Stone Ramblers

Walking for pleasure & health

A warm welcome is extended to EVERYONE to walk with us.

Stone Ramblers is a very friendly, sociable club with around 175 members. We offer a varied programme of walks, holidays and social events that aims to meet everyone's needs.  Formed in Nov 1995, we are one of 14 local groups in the Staffordshire Area of the Ramblers which is dedicated to protecting footpaths other places to which the public has a right of way or access on foot.

Group Walks & Events
Our group walks are generally 4-12 miles long. We regularly walk in Staffordshire, Shropshire, Cheshire, Derbyshire, The Peak District and occasionally further afield.

We welcome new members to join us as a guest for 2-3 walks to see if you like our walks. We only ask that you wear strong footwear that you do not mind getting wet or very muddy and that you carry the appropriate amount of food and drink and wet weather gear. If you wish to walk with us regularly, and we really hope you do, you will be expected to Join the Ramblers

Health Walks
Stone Health Walks provide a programme of regular walks that provide a friendly, safe environment to encourage people to walk to improve their health.
The programme is designed to encourage walking for beginners, persons recovering from operations or injury, people who have difficulty with longer distances, and those who want a very supportive group to walk with.

Path Maintenance
The Stone Working Party is an active group of interested volunteers who do a tremendous job in helping maintain and improve the standards of the paths in our area. Their work helps to make paths more accessible for the benefit of ramblers and the general public.

Our Books
Stone Ramblers have produced two high-quality, books of walks in the Stone area plus three Stone Doorstep Walks.  We hope that you enjoy these walks and that some will become personal or family favourites.
